How much does a UGC video cost in 2026, and how to produce them at volume

UGC creator rates, usage rights, hidden costs: what a UGC video really costs, and how to produce dozens of them without blowing the budget.

By Etienne Roure

UGC-style videos (user-generated content), the short face-to-camera clips that look like they were shot by a customer, have become a core format on TikTok, Instagram and in social ads. Their strength: they feel like a recommendation, not an ad. Their limit: you need a lot of them, and each one has a cost.

So how much does a UGC video actually cost, and how do you produce them at volume? Here are the orders of magnitude.

What a UGC creator charges per video

Rates vary with the creator's experience, the complexity of the video and the rights negotiated. Based on the rate cards published by Billo, typical 2025-2026 prices are:

Creator profileIndicative price per video
Entry level$50 to $100
Mid level$150 to $500
Established$500+, before licensing

Most short-form videos land around $200 before usage rights. That is a production baseline, not a final price.

The costs that come on top

The per-video rate is almost never the total cost. Several items add up:

  • Usage rights. Running the video as a paid ad requires a license, which can double or triple the cost depending on duration and channels.
  • Revisions. Every extra round trip is billed or adds delays.
  • Management. Finding creators, shipping products, briefing, chasing, approving: that internal time adds up, especially as the number of videos grows.
  • Variants. The same message in vertical, square, several languages or for several products multiplies the shoots.

For a brand that wants to test 20 or 30 variants per campaign, the bill climbs fast.

The real issue: volume

In social advertising, one video is never enough. Teams test several hooks, avatars and formats, then keep what performs. It is a volume problem, and the "one creator, one video" model does not scale.

Producing UGC videos with AI

Recent video models can generate UGC-style videos from product photos. The challenge is no longer just to generate a video, but to produce dozens that stay consistent with the brand: same tone, same legal notices, same colors.

That is what UGC Video Studio does in Masstock. You set the avatar, tone and brand parameters once, then run your products in batch. A complex 10-second video uses 25 credits, about $5 at the Individual top-up rate. The exact cost is shown before every run, and a failed generation is never charged.

Creators or AI: when to use which

AI does not replace everything. For a message carried by a real person, an ambassador or an authentic customer review, a creator remains the right choice. To turn one product into dozens of variants, test hooks or cover a whole catalog, automated production takes over.

Many brands combine both: a few creator videos for authenticity, and generated series for volume. The same principles apply to still images, as we explain in our article on product-in-context photography.
